The ERT series has long been popular with class teachers as well as special needs and support teachers wanting more than just a simplistic, global measure of reading attainment. The series has also proved popular with LEAs for annual, authority-wide standards monitoring. The series comprises four overlapping tests (for ages 7-9, 8:6 - 10:6, 10-12:6, and 11:7 - 16+), each of which assesses a range of different literacy skills (e.g. vocabulary, sequencing, comprehension of points of view - see panel) and which in turn provide a diagnostic information that will inform teaching throughout each year, and are not designed solely for end-of-year assessment. |
