The Mathematics Competency Test provides a quick and convenient measure of mathematics skills and attainment, for ages 11:6 to adult. It provides a skills profile as well as a norm-referenced total score. The skills profile reflects the National Curriculum attainment targets and allows attainments to be expressed on a continuum from simple to complex, making the test suitable for a wide range of purposes and contexts, in schools, colleges and pre-employment.

The test utilises open-ended questions, presented in ascending order of difficulty, and is easy to score. The Manual provides full instructions for administration and interpretation of results.
