Group Mathematics Test
D Young

This popular test assesses a wide range of mathematical understanding and skills at a simple level. Designed for use across the full ability range with Year 2 infants in the spring and summer terms, and with Year 3 children in the autumn term (ages 6:4 to 8:3), it gives a standardised external reference that complements teacher assessment and underpins National Curriculum assessments at the end of Key Stage 1. The test also presents norms for older, less able pupils (up to age 11:10).
The Group Mathematics Test focuses particularly on the basic arithmetical processes, and includes some orally-presented questions, making it easier to identify children whose maths ability is being underestimated because of reading difficulties.
